The Med Review - a Mediterranean haven
Updated: Mar 11
Me and a friend were invited to a menu tasting of The Med Glos, in Gloucester Quays in February. We were immediately impressed with the Meditteranean decor and feel throughout the restaurant. I had been here in previous years when it was under a different management/cuisine and they have definitely upgraded, making it a gem on the quays.
We were greeted by the manager who was very friendly as were all of the staff. We sat down with drinks and were given a full briefing on the type of foods and beer/wine accompaniments which worked well with their menu, alcohol-free versions included.
The food was fantastic, tasty, full of flavours from a range of different cuisines which each complemented each other. The interior was warm, inviting and comfortable, creating a fully immersive experience into a Meditteranean restaurant, it almost felt like we were abroad. The staff and chef really added to the evening and we had a fabulous evening trying a couple of their speciality dishes.

About The Med - Here at The Med, we’re dedicated to sharing a taste of Lebanon, Syria, Spain and Greece to our locals in Gloucestershire. The restaurant provides a sample of the rich flavours these countries have to offer, all of which originate from the Mediterranean Sea. Our Head Chef has worked in hospitality in Syria and Egypt and brings his love of Mediterranean food to the heart of Gloucester at the Historic Docks.
The Food - Starters & Mains
In order of appearance: Mixed meze dip on bread (strange bread, would have been better with pitta), Tabbouleh salad, Gambas Pil Pil (my fav!), Calamari, Rosemary Chicken, Pinchos Morunos, The Med Beef Burger.
The Food - Dessert
In order of appearance: Baklava, Kanafeh (my fav) and churros with a salted caramel dip! Baklava again
Gluten-free beer option, fab for me! Everyone rated the other drinks highly! We also had a superb alcohol-free prosecco.
